COUNT PROJECT
In June 30, 2003 extending through the end of September, the Department
of Education (DepEd) conducted the delivery of about 37 million
textbooks nationwide under the SEMP2/TEEP procurement. To ensure the
efficient delivery of these books to the districts and high schools, the
DepEd called civil society organizations (CSOs) to monitor these
activities. This is also in line with the Department’s efforts to
promote transparency and accountability in their transactions. This
initiative is dubbed “Textbook Count Project.”
