Last August 14, the Transparency and Accountability Network presented its position paper on premature campaigning before the Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago. Senator Loren Legarda, a member of the Committee, was also present during a short part of the hearing.
Cabinet officials present during the hearing were Vice President Noli de Castro as head of the Pag-ibig Fund, Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque, Department of Finance Secretary Margarito Teves, Department of Budget and Management Secretary Rolando Andaya, MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando, PAGCOR Chairman Efraim Genuino, Department of Education Secretary Jesli Lapus, among others.
The Transparency and Accountability Network is a member of the Pera't Pulitika consortium, which monitored campaign spending in 2007 in select election contests. (See the TAN resource paper)
