Tonight the FOI bill passed on second reading.
The Right to Know. Right Now! consortium congratulates and expresses deep gratitude to Senator Alan Cayetano and Senator Migs Zubiri who also helped substantially.
In the Lower House, the group also renews congratulations and thanks Rep. Erin Tanada, along with Reps Joel Villanueva and Rep Del, for making sure that the bill is passed early. This has allowed the group to focus their efforts in the Senate, which historically has been very hard to move as far as the FOI bill was concerned.
Amid the dark cloud of Martial Law, these legislators have provided light.
The bill will then have to go through the third and final reading which hopefully happens on Dec. 10 or early next week. After this, the bicameral conference follows.
